NYX Make-up haul + updates

Hey friends, It’s been so long since I wrote again, so updates updates!! First of all, this has been long overdue but I want to thank Ms. Liz of projectvanity.com for the wonderful NYX Contest they held a few weeks ago, after numerous number of times that I’ve joined beauty contests at blogger, I finally won something. So thank you, also to carefreeshopper.multiply.com for providing the make-up and having it shipped days after at my home conveniently.
My package arrived on a Wednesday, if I still remember it clearly. Although I’m asleep in the morning I forgot all about my wonderful prize and as I woke up, it was there on my table waiting to be opened. Just like a kid on Christmas day, I was so happy and excited to open my gift.

Image0904                                                             Carefully wrapped
Image0905
All items were tightly packed with the bubble wrap, am I dreaming?
Image0906
Photo was taken in my camera phone, so forgive the crappy quality. I Got 2 lippies (Angel love and Thalia), 1 Diamond sparkle lipgloss in Rose, Pearl eyeshadow white, and 2 Chrome eyeshadows. I am very happy with my prize and got to try them all out, no swatches yet though. I like the quality of the lippies and the pearl eyeshadow, it’s good for highlighting the brow bone, as for the lipgloss not so much, but it’s fairly fine. Since I got this for free, I have no complaints, just like toys, I love them all!

Earning your own money feels good, I haven’t bought anything yet though, as I’m planning on opening my own savings account asap, but of course, every woman needs some pampering so maybe this 31st I’m planning on having my hair colored and have a good foot spa with mani-ped, a much needed one, but we’ll have to see my budget though, I have so many plans that I want to make it happen, first off, as mentioned my own bank account, I do need to save up for a new laptop, since my old one has been with me for 4 years it starting to give hints that it might crash someday, haha. So I’m opting for a pink ASUS Eee netbook, a pink one of course, specifically with a chiclet keyboard. As for other stuff, I’ll be saving up for a special gift for someone, which is one of my priorities since the occasion is just months away. So many plans, so need to be frugal, If I do plan to push through with my so called pampering day, I must make all of this happen. Need to invest on some other important things like my food business that I plan to put up, either late of this year or next year. Have a lot of researching to do and make a new business plan. Ever since, this has been my dream, to have my own cafe so I’ve got to learn new food techniques and recipes as well. Just thinking of my future since time is running short, I have a few years to save up for my own home and build a career of my own not just a day job.

Babbling about other things, I was so happy to have bought this for someone really special in my life. I have been promising him this for the longest time, and it was only this year in his birthday that I bought it. I guess, when you care for someone and if you’re a person that stays to your promise, no matter how much it is, you wouldn’t care. What’s priceless is seeing that person receive that gift on his special day.

                                                                 and the result:
Image0927                                     The Limited edition Voltron Lion force 25 years
It’s the one in the middle and it sure is way HUGE, like I said boys and their toys, haha.
I’m pretty sure he’s happy about it, and as for me I’m way happier because I got to keep my promise to him no matter what the situation that we’re having now. Cheers to Voltron!

So happy weekend ladies and gents (if there is), hehe!

What's a good foundation powder for Oily face?

One of my biggest skin problems is having an oily face, I’m still on a look-out in finding the best foundation powder for my skin type both for the rainy or HOT season. I know having an oily face has it’s advantages when you grow old (less wrinkles), but seriously it’s hard to maintain a shine free face through out the day, without having to re-apply again in the middle of the day. I’ve tried quite a few brands already from reasonably priced to high end (Maybelline’s foundation powder shine free with SP15, Avon’s True Luminous, Maybelline’s Angel Fit, Nichido, Maybelline’s Mineral foundation and Shu Uemura).

Shu Uemura was good while it lasted every bit of powder, this has got to be one of my favorite high end foundation powder because it gives that sheer finish and (in my case) I don’t need to use a concealer. It gives me a photo ready face. Although, it can feel a little heavy but I don’t mind. I also like the smell of it, some sort of powdery make-up smell. lolz! I think it costs around P2000+

                                 My super uber used Shu

Since, I can’t buy Shu Uemura for now, I have to settle with something a little less. On to Maybelline’s Shine Free foundation poweder with SPF15, this was just plain blah for me, every time I put this on my face, it looks so white and they say 8hours shine free, well, I was disappointed. I bought the natural shade and it still looks white to me, must be because of the SPF. I'm definitely not going to buy this again. This is based on my experience okay? it may work for others, but didn't work for me so there.

For my True Luminous Avon foundation, this doesn't last me even before lunch. But must be because I'm commuting, but even if I'm indoors it doesn't stay that long.

So that is my dilemma, I really need a good foundation powder and If I've found it, I'll definitely be sticking to it for a Very long time. For now, I'm lemming on the ELLANA mineral intensive foundation powder, I've heard a good review about it, I just hope it would work for me too.

I'm open for suggestions too okay? Don't hesitate to give your opinions, etc. I'd even appreciate it. So, for girls who have the same skin problem as I do, what do you use to keep your face shine free? (of course, except using blotting films of course, hehe).

Till next time!

2 Surprises in one day

Work has been the same for the past week and it has been a normal thing for me, since I am in a night shift schedule I think that I am also getting used to not taking a nap in between work, specially at around 1-3am.

Anyways, I’ve been following a few well known and experienced beauty bloggers ever since I joined here at blogger 4 months ago. Before, I use to buy fashion magazines to keep up with the latest make-up trends or what ever is new in the market, and when I learned that these beauty bloggers make reviews about make-up it was bliss! So I followed those who I think I can relate to and them having beauty contests was just the cherry on top of the ice cream. I followed and joined quite a number of contests already and haven’t won, but that was okay, it’s more of crossing your fingers that you’ll hopefully win something.

Going back to my daily life, (haha) I thought today was just an ordinary day at the office. Of course seeing BF at work is nice because I don’t get to miss him as much as I do before when I was still studying. I’m always early for work, afraid to get stuck in traffic, so when I arrived in my station, opened my PC and checked a few things online like, email, blogger, etc. And to my surprise regarding Projectvanity.com and Carefreeshopper NYX giveaway, I WON! WOOT! So that’s the first surprise for today, secondly, BF rarely gives me chocolates and when I sat in my station, he handed me a pack of Hershey’s chocolate kisses –yum. This definitely made my day, thank you to Ms. Liz (projectvanity.com) for having this great contest! and to Carefreeshopper at multiply.com, lastly to my hunnie for surprising me with chocolates.

As for the contest, will update you guys on the free stuff I got.

Till next time!

Quick updates

Happy weekend everyone! Work has been fine so far and it’s nice too that BF is also working in the same company as I am, except of course that we’re both in a different team. Weekdays are quite laid back, so I have ample time to write about something. First off, my work is a Content Moderation Control officer for Orion OMG Solutions Inc. for Cartoon Network, Hong Kong at Ortigas Pasig, just around the corner of Robinson’s Galleria. I had 3 weeks of training and currently moved to the night shift. I’m still adjusting with my body clock and I hope I get used to it soon. Music, hot chocolate and energy drinks are what keeps me up late at night. haha, it’s hard not to take a quick nap at the wee hours of the night, lucky for me my team leads are nice (being the only girl in the team at the night shift- so they have to be nice, lolz!)

So, the 30th of last month was my very first paycheck and I wasn’t expecting a high salary because it has been only 3 weeks of work, and to my surprise, it was more than to what I expected, WOOT! Since now I’m in the night shift, I’m definitely expecting (quite) a- lot in the 15th of this month. Well, it’s not really that high nor low, just the basic but with additional like night differential and holiday pay, things like that. I am happy that I was hired in this company, my team are very nice and my trainer was very patient with me, thanks Ate Cath.

Recently, I’ve acquired new make-up like Maybelline’s mineral foundation powder in Shell beige, which I’ll be posting a review about it sometime next week. I want to make sure to make a thorough review about it, at this moment it’s the wee hours of the night and, I’m afraid I can’t compose my thoughts properly.

Friday was the first screening of The Iron Man 2, BF and I watched it at Robinson’s Galleria, the memorable scenes for me was the sentiment of his dad, which I wasn’t expecting and a short preview of Thor, which is so cool! Man, I can’t wait to see that movie along with Captain America and The Avengers.

ironman2

The final battle with Whiplash was just meh, it wasn’t really great or cool, but it’s still okay. Not unless if you’re expecting a kick ass battle, then sorry to burst your bubble. Then again, it’s just my perception about it.

I had barely 3 hours of sleep that day, and it was really hard staying awake late at night. I was beginning to be restless, haha. Rushed home as soon as I was finished with work.

Well, this is sort of an update, work is keeping me so I’ll do my best to find something new to make a review about. Like I said, I make reviews on random things that I love, not just make up. Hope you enjoy reading my random babblings.

Till next time!
