A date on Friday the 13th

 

    Hello people! first of, thank god blogger is back. I was continously “monitoring” blogger tonight, hoping I could read updates as well as post my blog too. And Lo and behold, when I reloaded the page, it went back to normal. YEY!

    Anyway, in my previous post about my advanced birthday gift for the BF, this is a continuation, we had dinner at Tokyo tokyo Megamall Ortigas.

     It was a few weeks ago that I noticed that the Japanese fast food chain re-made their “menu”. They now offer, fancy maki’s. Here’s what we had

  I wanted the tempura maki, but M ordered the American maki, which has ham and cream cheese. I’m acutally curious what those green and pink tiny “balls” were. The color was appealing to the eye though. My verdict? It tasted good, but not completely wowed by it. M loved it to bits! Next time, I will be trying the tempura maki and spicy beef.

   We both ordered the tempura and veggie bento, it was good, and I sure did taste the shrimp this time, which is good. You can never go wrong with Tokyo tokyo to fill up some hungry tummies and value for your money.

   After dinner, we or I mean I wanted something sweet and creamy, so we chilled at Starbucks, me ranting out about how my week has been and just completely talking non stop. We definitely missed each other so much. Had our usual fix of….

    Among other things, I bought a few stuff for my other baby – Tabby. His usual Friskies, bought him a new collar and 1 can of over priced 9lives can for P95 at Animal House Megamall. Oh well, I love my cat <3

Tech talk: A birthday gift

 

Happy Friday the 13th everyone, hehehe.

Well today sure was a happy day for my M. Why you ask? well, remember how long I have not been posting anything specially when it comes to make-up? is because I have been saving really hard for my BF’s birthday gift. And so, finally! I was able to buy it! YEY! I’ve been wanting to buy him a gadget for a gift, and it was perfect timing. For his birthday gift last year, I bought him this…

   

   I was actually really lucky to have found this at a toy store (for the “big” boys) for less than what it is being sold now. Would you believe, at ebay, they are selling this for around P20,000 – up. I got this for less than P10,000 and was even on sale. He was definitely happy.

  So for this year, I wanted to make him happy and bought him a……

    A sweet spankin’ brand new IPOD Touch 32GB 4th gen! other than it was something he wanted, he also wanted it because of work, in doing app projects. Of course, as soon as he bought it, he immediately had an ishield installed for the front only. Curing takes 3 days before you can actually use it (placing it in a bag/pouch).

Specs:

IOS 4.1, 1 year apple warranty, and of course not jailbreak-ed

Comes with a basic package of earphones and a charger usb. All stores has the same package but different price, so it was just a matter of finding a good priced Ipod touch and we did. Regardless, it’s brandnew. And honestly, yes, I’m really jealous. haha.

    I thought it comes with a charger, but you have to buy that one separately. Though, you can charge it using a laptop/pc, but I prefer it the traditional way.

    But mostly, I’m happy to have bought a really precious gift for my M, it was actually an advanced birthday gift, hehe~ Happy birthday babe, love you~

Gushing about Go Greek and something else

 

     Last Sunday, BF and I had plans to watch THE movie (THOR), for lunch I hadn’t decided what to eat but M was craving for go greek’s lamb gyro plate, which is where we ended up dining to. Well, I know this isn’t the first time, but we just so love this place.

     So who is behind this wonderful creation? Is, Chef Rob Goco restaurateur of Cyma.

      A Greek fast food stall beyond reach. Prices are relatively affordable, for the Lamb gyro plate it will cost you P195, you can choose either greek rice or roasted potato. I opted for rice this time, I asked what kind of rice it is, since I usually order roasted potatoes, the man said it’s yogurt rice. The rice is really good, somewhat creamy and fluffy. You can get hummus for only P65 or P70   with 6 slightly thick slices of pita bread. We always order Hummus, and I noticed that they don’t serve it the same way. Sometimes they drizzle a lot of olive oil, but this time, it was an ample drizzle. But it still is good.

    The plate consists of fresh tossed salad, pita bread, the rice is topped with lamb and topped off with that yummy yellow sauce. It tastes like mustard but there must be something else in that sauce. It compliments well the lamb. There are also 2 sauces that comes with it (which is not in the picture), I think the white one is sour cream and the other one is some kind of olive based sauce or dressing for the salad. For a full plate, the price is definitely worth it. The salad, as always was served fresh but not wowed by it.

      The first time I ate here, I think I tried the beef, and it was tough, too tough for my liking. Which is why I stay away from it. Phobia I guess? I just hate wasting money. So I suppose the lamb gyro plate will always be in our top list every time we dine in at Go Greek.

      For dessert I had White Hat’s yogurt with home made cheesecake, while M had his fix of chocolate mud pie from Blizzard. It’s funny how  they serve it upside down, I so want to mock them sometimes (sige nga kuya baliktarin mo ulit!) hehe.

    It was the perfect treat to cool ourselves since it was still warm inside the mall. There were a few spots that had cool aircons, but at least the movie house was cold. Oh, and M and I didn’t watch THOR in 3D only in 2D which is a wise decision.

Tech talk: Thorough review of NIKON L21–Finally!

 

  Hello everyone, how are you all doing, boy do I  have some news but that will have to wait.  For today’s post, is a follow up review of my camera NIKON L21. It was a gift by M last year after my birthday.

  When I started blogging, I thought just using my Nokia Xpress Music camera phone was fine but then I started cringing, that I needed a better camera for some pictures don’t give the justice/credit for it. And with M surprising me with my very first digital camera made me sooo happy.

   The NIKON L21 is comparatively a basic digital camera out there, you point and shoot. Maybe adjusting the exposure settings or color effects is the technical/ hardest  part, but everything else is easy breezy.

•     Batteries                                  : double AA batteries * I use the energizer rechargeable batteries (the green one)

        Having it for 7 months now, I can now give a decent thorough review.

        For a point and shoot purpose, it serves it’s purpose very well. Of course, NIKON is know for it’s high performance lens and for a basic camera you get quality lens and results for a budget digital camera.

        Familiarity? it was easy breezy even for a first time digital camera owner/user. Adjusting settings are pretty easy and basic too.

        It has different modes:

      1. Easy auto mode

      2. Personalize – portrait, landscape, sports, night portrait, party/indoor,   beach/snow, sunset, dusk/dawn, night landscape,  close-up, food, museum, fireworks, copy, backlight, panorama assist.

      3. Smart portrait

      4. Movie

      5. Auto mode – color options: standard color, vivid color, black and white, sepia and cyanotype.

    So that’s it for that part, now I feel really as in reallllly bad for my camera, when I attended a friend’s wedding, my camera fell, TWICE! yes it fell. Clumsy me, Initial reaction was that I thought my camera broke into pieces already. But I was surprised that it was still alive –whew! that was a relief, goes to show how sturdy it is right? The camera slipped from my hand because the strap that came with it was loose. There was practically no scratches nor cracks and image results were still the same. Talk about being clumsy and a sturdy camera eh? haha.

       Battery

         I was able to test the battery life of my energizer rechargeable batteries when M and I had our first trip in Tagaytay last year. And was pretty impressed, when we arrived my battery wasn’t charged but it was 50% half full, as soon as we arrived, I started taking pictures the whole day. Overall with constant use, the battery life lasted for 2 days.

        When charging, I noticed even when charging overnight it doesn’t reach to a hundred percent, only 80% but it’s still pretty good. Perfect for travel use.

         Having a small screen and using batteries like mine makes battery life last longer.

      Video Quality

      I was able to take videos using the L21 and it’s actually easy to use and easy to upload in youtube too. It’s hard o to explain how the video quality is, so I’ll just show you how it looks like.

      The video is clear and it didn’t seem to have grainy parts compared to the recent video I posted (below). Probably because of the wedding incident

My Gripes about it?

      Eventually, I needed a wider angle lens, I kept complaining that the L21 has a small screen. Yes, it may have a landscape assist but I find it a hassle to have landscape photos edited with the software. I want instant panoramic view in my lens.

     And so, a 2.5 LCD is way too small. Most of my pictures with M are close-up and it’s too bad we can’t include the background. Here’s a sample

      Under low light conditions even when using the indoor option is bad (Iopted not to use flash). Here’s a sample:

    I didn’t experience any long shutter lags up to date, and as soon as you take the picture it doesn’t take long to view it too as compared with M’s Samsung es30. I made a versus review of the NIKON L21 V Samsung es30 here.

     Also, there was one time when my camera was making funny faint noises. I’m thinking it has something to do when my camera fell.

    Considering the price, I don’t expect much setting wise. But now it goes to show that I need more. A wider angle and more settings to play around with. I still love this camera of course since this was a gift. I intend to keep it, but for now, I’m in search of a much better camera.
