Gamers Corner: DOTA 2

It’s been a while since I posted anything about games. My PS3 died down on me 3 months ago, so my only source of gaming would be PC/ laptop which is DOTA the original mod on Warcraft III.

But that is pretty old news already as DOTA 2 is slowly making it’s way available for fans. I joined STEAM, a gaming community where you can instantly access games and meet people online. You can check out more about STEAM in their website.

It was actually Martin who introduced me to STEAM and I’ve been a member since then. I installed the Kingdom of Amalur demo, and it’s definitely a good replacement for console gaming. The only thing you have to consider though is your specs. Sadly, my specs let’s say is not fit for hardcore gaming use so my DOTA 2 experience is a bit shitty – excuse the term.

When I finally received my confirmation code from Steam support. I was excited and downloaded it immediately. It took me 2 days to finish my download which is pretty fast.

Tech loving: My PS3 is finally back!

Somebody is back home and this time (FINALLY) with an installed Mortal Kombat! WOOT! My boyfriend gifted me a PSN card about a month ago, so that I can have my own full copy of Mortal Kombat for the PS3.

It took me a month to download and when it was finally at 100% installing, my file was apparently corrupted. I was so pissed that time, so I had to let Martin fix the file for a week. And as promised Mortal Kombat for le kitty! Weeee. Thanks so much babe <3

A Day With A Dear Friend and Weekend Pets

Last week, I went to Stacy’s house to hang out and luckily despite it’s my first time to travel to her house alone, I didn’t get lost.

Anyway, I slightly envy her collection. She has all the consoles and hand held games (PS3, Xbox, Wii, Nintendo DS XL, 3DS, PSP, and Vita). Every gamers dream is to have them right?

Gamer girlfriend + Advanced birthday surprise and CATS!

I always look forward to weekends, Saturday’s spent with my man, it was our regular RnR at his place for a gaming session. He actually let me try Demon Souls and Amalur: Reckoning, you see my BF is a hardcore gamer/ gamer geek and recently in his Facebook status updates is mostly about his gaming journey with Demon Souls, how freaking hard the game is and I was able to experience it myself and now I understand his “frustration”. First of all, the controls are different, you will be using the L and R button’s for attacking or defense, and then the d pad to switch equipments /skills and potion and then the analog stick to move. It was overwhelming and hard! Let me rephrase that, it will eat your soullllllll! (haha). Not to brag or anything, my BF’s best friend Jon only lasted a minute, I for one lasted an hour. So it’s not that bad considering it’s my first time. My class is Royalty, which both uses magic and long rage weapons.

What I love about these kinds of games is customization, here’s how my character in Demon Soul’s look like (see photo below).

Pretty plane jane right? All through out the game I kept screaming like a scaredy cat and told Martin that I wanted to rest for a while. He recommended that I try Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, which I enjoyed more over Demon Souls and also because my character looks way better (hehe). See photo below

I think Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is the game for me, it’s much more light hearted and slightly plays the same as Demon Souls only easier. This is just the demo only, release of the game will be sometime in February for PS3. I played almost the whole afternoon, and after that we were able to catch Sherlock Holmes on HBO.

For lunch, I cooked burger patties, luncheon meat and egg sarciado (no photos sorry),  unfortunately, the burger patties was burned (almost charcoal like – haha), the fire was to high and I did not set it on low. My man kept on complaining about the patties (sorry babe, next time will make better patties for you), but at least the saving grace was the egg. We tried a new drink stall at a nearby grocery which I will be posting in my other blog. Before heading home, I was caught of guard by his advance birthday gift which was really sweet of him.

Someone was extravagant that day (thanks love!), will make a review of this sometime this week. And while I was taking a photo, this cat always wants to be the star (see photo below).

Martin has a very, VERY noisy cat named Tigger…..

We both had a blast and missed each other dearly, I can’t wait to spend time with him again this weekend!

Hope you guys had a great weekend too~

     Till then!

Currently playing: Nintendo Wii–Just Dance 2

Games can be a source of entertainment, stress reliever and for some a fun way to exercise! My Martin lent me his Nintendo Wii because he rarely uses it, he’s also very supportive of me losing weight which is the real reason why he lent me the Wii. So I can just dance, to Just Dance (game) LOL!

It’s not just because it’s the New year that I’ve decided to seriously lose weight but more of long term reasons and what girlfriend doesn’t want to look good for their significant other right? I also downloaded an app for the android called the Calorie Counter, which basically measures the amount of calories lost when you do a certain exercise. It also measures the calorie intake of your food. I will probably blog about that app soon. Anyhoo, going back to the Wii, is my daily workout. I’ve played all of the songs already and I really wish my man can find a copy of the Just Dance 3, so far the only copies sold are for the Xbox, BOOO!

Gaming Session: Scott Pilgrim vs. the world

What I love about Friday’s, aside from that it’s the end of the week, M and I have our Friday ritual at our friends place.

For this gaming session we had a list of games to play, first was (of course) the eternal Castlevania Harmony of Despair (M and I are fans of all Castlevania games, then I tried BloodRayne (hard core game) almost similar to Castlevania, only the character you play is a girl and she’s a half blood vampire. Then tried Dungeons Defenders (hated it) it plays like DOTA only playing DOTA in the PS3 is hard (for me that is), I would’ve preferred if it was a PC game. All four of us ended playing till the wee hours of Scott Pilgrim vs. the world.

Here’s a brief introduction about the game:

“Scott Pilgrim is a side-scrolling beat 'em up game based on the Scott Pilgrim series of comic books”

The game is pretty easy, it has a single player or multiplayer option, of course the multi player is much more fun. A bash and and beat them up game. If your player dies your team mate can revive you (they look funny when they do, haha). The main objective is relatively the same as with the movie (beating up the ex-boyfriends). The game can be bought via PSN card, I’m not sure how much though.

    Console: PS3

Definitely looking forward to our next gaming session~

A short gaming experience for the ACE and a App game review

I wasn’t able to make a detailed review of the gaming experience in the Samsung galaxy ace. So having found a game that I’m currently addicted to, here’s my take on the samsung galaxy ace gaming experience.

The ace has a 800MHz processor, compared to low end android phones (with only 600MHz), this is supposedly to be faster. However, I am surprised with the game  Aqua Pets (I’m currently playing) and even Angry Birds, I experience lagging and errors such as needing to force close the application. With the game angry birds, most of the time it just lags (slow). Having found the game Aqua pets is both a blessing and a curse, haha. Blessing because the game is addicting, and a curse because It eats up the battery even more, needing to charge it twice a day. Well, for now it’s okay since I’m just home, but that would be a bothersome if I’m out of the house.

AQUA PETS

Now, on to the game review. I was browsing through the Android market for app games, and I found Aqua pets. Aqua pets is a fishing and aquarium game for the Android.

DSCN3558

At first, I was in it out of boredom but then I was getting OC in getting the magic scepter rod (which will be explained later on). There are 13 different rods to choose from, you get different kinds of fishes and other rare creatures, depending on the rod you use. Earning money, of course you have to fish by also using different baits. Better baits means better chances of getting rare and legendary creatures.

My aquarium, which you can also set as your live wallpaper

 DSCN3570

                                                             Auto rotate view

You get to feed your fishes by buying pellets in the store section for only 20 coins good for 1 whole day use. Aside from that, there’s nothing more you can do than just feed them and just continue fishing and catching more rare and legendary creatures. The more you fish, you get to level up too which is required for some rods.

What made it fun for me is my love for mermaids, LOL. I used all my pearls just to buy the magic scepter which can catch mermaids. Oh by the way, this app is free.

Unfortunately, I always experience lagging and force close. But what I do is to tap the wait option instead. So far, that’s the only concern I have with the game when it comes to technical issues. As for playability. It can get boring since the only interaction is feeding them. In my case, is addicting because I want to collect all the mermaids.

         Till then!

Game loving for Android users

Technology has come a long way at this age,  when mobile phones were just used to call, then the texting feature came out, plus a lot of add on features like FM radio and etc. The famous Symbian OS (Operating system) is what we’re all familiar with (Nokia a phones). Jump start to today, mobile phones are becoming versatile because of the Android, which has a large community of developers making applications that extend the functionality of the devices. Which is why apps are a big thing right now.

M’s company, Komikasi Enterprises are currently making apps (games) for Android users.

   What the game is about?

The basic premise is that you are an aspiring drama actress and that the goal is to slowly rise through the ranks facing famous people and legendary actresses (local actresses)

Here’s a video of me testing the beta version, of course it’s still needs some tweaking. But this is just a snippet

watch here. I’m having problem’s inserting the video with Windows Live, just click the watch here link provided. Thank you~

    Till then!

Tech talk: Currently playing

Hello there dear readers, how are you all doing? First up, it’s my rest day today, and tomorrow is my last week of work for the week, as I will be embarking on a different path soon. I’m thinking of resting for a week then go for interviews. Hopefully, I get the job that I want. Either Content writing or finally have word from my mom from manila bulletin.

I’ve been on a make-up ban for a while, I hope next week I can buy the wet n’ wild knock on wood palette, or do some mini haul.

Anyway, what’s keeping me busy is M’s Nintendo DSi XL. I used to have a DSi Lite, but my bad, sold it 2 years ago. Anyhoo, I’m sure you are all familiar with the game Plants vs. Zombies right? I’ve actually finished it already, but there is something about the game that is lovable, that keeps me playing the game if I want a quick no nonsense game. Good thing M has the game installed in his DSi XL. At first, I wasn’t paying attention to him, insisting that plants is better off played in the PC or laptop. I spoke too early and ate my words, it’s also fun playing it in the DS. hehe~
