Still friends

It’s the start of the week again and time to roll up our sleeves! Hopefully this will be a good start of the week for all of us!

Amidst all my drama about my breakup with my ex BF, we still manage to be good friends. We’re both working on our differences and perhaps maybe in the future, we would be back together although there are no assurances. Well, let’s just see how things will go. We both have our own lives now to pursue and careers to build, I’m just happy that we still communicate every now and then. After all, we did start as really good friends back in college. And I still believe that every relationship should have that foundation.

Saturday Weekend food trip and a Rockin’ bad ass movie!

Happy weekend peeps! As for me, I’m enjoying every bit of my weekend this week. First time I don’t have to worry being late for work or having to go to work at night.

For this weekend’s food trip, I was craving for pasta yesterday and BF and I ended up eating at Pizza hut. We had dinner first before watching X-Men: First class. Here’s what we had

  * I was supposed to upload this post yesterday, but had to wait for the pictures which M took.

                                             Tuna Melt P165 or P185

It was M who wanted this appetizer, and I’m glad that I agreed with him too. The tuna melt appetizer was addictingly good, specially when served hot as the cheese gets stringy when you bite on it. I am not sure what kind of cheese they used because, it tasted somewhat tangy (tangy in a good way). Probably because of the tuna? If you would expect chunks of tuna, you might be disappointed. I only saw and tasted an ample amount of tuna pieces. But in my opinion, it worked. This can substitute as pizza as well. Oh and they were generous on the cheese too. If you can notice, there’s some kind of tomatoes in the middle, add that in your tuna melt and it’s the perfect blend. Gives a different layer of flavor. I just actually wished they were generous on the tomatoes too. It’s pesto made I believe.

As usual, my M had his favorite Bolognese pasta

I on the other hand ordered something different, I was eyeing on the Aglio pasta, but then changed my mind

I forgot how much the price is, but it does not exceed P200. The sauce was really good. It looks like how an ordinary Italian tomato sauce would look like, only more flavorful and just a little bit thicker. Even M liked it, he actually hates a thin based sauce but this one he loves he says. I definitely recommend this pasta if you haven’t tried it yet. For our drinks we just had their house water.

Right after dinner we watched the movie X –Men: first class, which was totally rockin’. I’ll be doing a short review about it once I finish my other post.

DF- 3306 Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender, left foreground) and Charles Xavier (James McAvoy, right foreground) lead Cassidy (Caleb Landry Jones, left), Raven Darkholme (Jennifer Lawrence), Dr. Moira McTaggert (Rose Byrne), Hank McCoy (Nicholas Hoult), and Alex Summers (Lucas Till) in a battle to prevent nuclear war.

I was actually getting irritated with my long hair lately, the fact that it’s already hot, it just doesn’t seem to look good.

Food talk: Battle of the white pizza~

I am a fan/ lover of pizza, specially white pizza or quattro formaggi. And so this post is about the battle of the white pizza.

pizza

Every payday M and I indulge ourselves too good food, and every time we eat at an Italian restaurant or Pizza joint, we always try their quattro formaggi, to compare which has the best (in our taste) pizza. So, we’ve tried a couple from different places and here’s a run down.

First up is: Pizza hut 6 or 7 Ultimate cheese pizza

pizza hut

The name was enticing, it sounds like bursting with different flavors of cheeses and who can go wrong with Pizza hut right? When I want bready pizza, I go to Pizza hut.

M and I was disappointed with this ( or maybe because we had high expectations, but hey can you blame us? )  It tasted more like a 2 cheese pizza to me, mozzarella and mild cheddar. But it was still worth trying if you haven’t had their ultimate cheese yet.

Second: Joey Pepperoni’s – Quattro Formaggi

joey pepperoni

It’s been a while since M and I ate here. Their Quattro was really divine, thin crispy crust with cheddary cheese (and it’s not the umay kind) but very filling. I highly recommend you try this.

   Third: Piadina’s – Quattro Formaggi

piadina

Piadina’s version was different, it had a thin layer of white cheese topped with parsley. Very light and creamy, it’s hard to compare which is best between Joey’s and Piadina, I love them both. I’d definitely order this again and again when we get the chance to go back to Piadina.

Last but not the least: Carlo’s Pizza

carlos pizza

We were able to try Carlos during our Tagaytay trip last year with our friends.  My eyes lit when I saw in their menu description: blue cheese. It wasn’t completely covered with blue cheese, just the right amount to tickle your senses. The crust was a little bit chewy but still crispy. The prices of Carlos are a pit pricey compared to Joeys and Piadina.

Joey’s is affordable, Piadina is slightly affordable, Carlos is a little bit pricey. I remember their Calamri costs P200+ with only a few pieces of calamri, good for 2 persons or just 1 if you’re really hungry or just love calamri that much. The one at Red lemon grill, the restaurant in the hotel we stayed in is cheaper, tastes the same and more calamri’s to munch on.

So, my verdict? among the 4 we’ve tried, which reins the BEST of them all??!

   CARLOS PIZZA!

The blue cheese won my heart, and even M liked it too~ it’s a winner! and a must try if you haven’t. I’m sure there are better quattro’s out there, but among we’ve tried, this is the best! If I remember it right, they have a branch at at SM MOA.

Any fans of white cheese pizza? any recommendations? would love to hear them

  Till then!

Weekend food tripping – Pizza hut’s Ultimate 6 cheese pizza

For this weekend’s food tripping, BF and I decided to eat at Pizza hut to try out their new Ultimate cheese pizza, we loved Joey Pepperoni’s quattro formaggi, and trying out Pizza hut’s cheese pizza would give us comparison which is better. So we were at Megamall, almost the whole day and this is what we had for lunch.

DSCN0361

We both had pasta, I ordered the Al pesto pasta for P129, this was really good and the bread that came with it was really perfect, perfect for dipping the extra pesto sauce too. And the servings sure was hefty, that I wasn’t able to finish my plate.

DSCN0365

BF’s order, Bolognese with meatballs for also P129, this is what he usually, most of the time, more often than not, what he orders for pasta at Pizza hut, yup, it’s his favorite.

*Photo courtesy of BF proud2begeek, it seems that I have shaky hands lately, so for the picture I asked the BF to take a picture of it.

DSCN0367                         Ultimate 6 cheese pizza

I forgot how much this is, but we just ordered the regular sized pizza, for the taste, it was disappointing, it tasted more or like 2 cheese pizza instead of 6, it wasn’t that bad but it was a worth try. Maybe our expectations were high, but then again they said 6 six pizza right? There is definitely room for improvement. Customer service was okay too, our waiter Ches was very attentive, we ordered 2 bottomless ice tea and we didn’t need to raise our hands to ask for our refills.

DSCN0360

I have no idea how much our total bill costs since BF paid for it, all I remember was that there was service charge. Dining experience was pretty okay, we were taking pictures when all of a sudden our waiter offered to take our picture, haha. Really attentive!

We had a lot of time to kill so we ended up watching RED, Definitely LOVED! the movie. It’s actually based under DC Comics.

Pizza Hut’s combo pizza

Thin crust, bready crust I love them all, and when I’m craving for bready pizza, BF and I always go to Pizza Hut. This restaurant hasn’t failed us yet when it comes to customer service, so kudos to them! Branches we’re we’ve eaten are, Buendia, MOA (Mall of Asia), SM Bicutan and Parksquare, Glorietta.

The other day, my sister had a visitor and we didn’t have food so I decided to treat them for pizza, of course they we’re happy about it specially the little nephew of mine. I really love their Hawaiian flavored pizza, originally that was my first order and a single order of Pasta Bolognese, the person on the phone was so patient with me and was very nice. I asked what’s their promo for this month and I wasn’t excited about it, then he suggested another promo (I’m not sure if it’s a limited edition promo, but I like it!) you can order 2 family sized pizza flavors available are: Hawaiian, supreme, bacon and I forgot the others. 2 family sized pizza for P399 ONLY! Not bad eh? Well of course for the toppings of supreme, it wasn’t much, but the basics are there like, red and green bell peppers and meat. Here are pictures

Image1105                                                                 Pizza Supreme

Image1106                                                Hawaiian – el favorito! ^___^

For the pasta, I had the Bolognese with meatballs for P129

Image1107

Okay, for some reason, I didn’t like this at all! even the meatballs tasted weird, I just gave it to our dog. The sauce tasted like chili beef, Ravioli’s Bolognese taste waaaayy better. The weird thing is, when BF and I dine in, their Bolognese tastes better, hmm? I’m sorry, but I really didn’t like my bolognese that time at least it wasn’t put to waste since Caramel (dog) ate it right? About the meatballs, it just taste weird, I can’t even explain what the taste is, maybe some sort of extender or something? I’m not sure. But, at least the pizza’s we’re saving grace! ^_^ I can vouch for their chicken penne pasta – love it!

Delivery was fast as usual and the person who accommodated my call was very pleasant. I believe the most important factor in your business is YOUR PEOPLE! they’re your biggest asset. So managers or owners should train their people well to have that quality service even if it is not a high class restaurant.
