Tech talk: Instagram now available for Android users

Today is the much awaited day! Finally Instagram is now available for Android users.

Ever since I read the news about Instagram that it will soon be available for the Android, I was ecstatic! The news however left Android users guessing on when it will be available for download in the Google Play market. The only information developers confirmed was that, Instagram will be better for the Android version.

I was reading Mashable’s article about the Instagram sign-up page last March 25, 2012 and of course I was also one of those who signed-up in their website. Here’s what it showed in their sign-up page. See photo below to see what I mean.

Tech talk: Android Apps–NOOM

I’ve been recently raving about NOOM – a health fitness application. I first tried out Calorie Counter but found NOOM to be much better. I love the workout feature where it counts the actual calories lost when you do a certain exercise, like biking, stationary biking, dancing, etc.

Tech talk: Cats are taking over the world!

Hello everyone! For today’s post is another app review. I was contemplating whether to have a separate blog for my techie talks, or maybe just mix it with my blog. I asked Martin, and as usual he gave valid reasons to just mix it here, my friend Stacy also said the same thing.

I’ve been OC lately for customizing my phone, so I decided to download new widgets and apps and I’m quite happy with what I have now. By the way, upon upgrading the froyo to gingerbread, I forgot to mention (though it may not be a big of a deal for some)  that there was one additional wallpaper available and it looks like this (refer to image below)

The list of things that I downloaded were the following:
  • Battery widget
  • App folder (similar to the IOS)
  • Color note
  • Bathing cat
  • Cat’s memo
  • Cool SMS tones and
  • Cat sound ringtones
Here’s how my phones UI looks like now:

But for this post I will be reviewing the two cat apps. First up, Bathing cat, now this is not my first time to download the widget. I am always cramming for space, so I had to prioritize which of the important ones that I needed for my phone to stay. Well, I still am cramming for space until now, but then what the heck! I miss the whiney, vain cat in my screen – haha!

Basically, bathing cat is a battery widget that informs you of bath levels (battery status), only much more fun and can be irritating at times (LOL). This  widget is definitely for the cat lovers out there.
With my recent update, the battery performance has changed a lot, but having this app drains the battery a little faster, but can still last the whole day.

 Here’s what you can customize…

You can choose from different styles of cats, tubs and background. It is also like a tamagotchi, which you have to take care of or else he’ll complain if you don’t.

That’s about if for Bathing cat! Next up is the Cat’s memo.

 Cat’s memo

Now this is my favorite app, this takes memo’s to a cuter level! You can set it up in the shortcut option for your home screen. This size is a 1x2

While the photo below is 1x4

I like them both, so I put 2 kitties in my home screen. Best of all you can also choose from different kinds of cats and also add a photo to your note.

There are only 6 cats to choose from and only 3 notepads, which in my opinion is not bad. Though, I hope if there’s an update they will add more cats and more colored notepads to choose from.

Definitely enjoying the cat’s memo! Both apps are free (yes, I’m cheap ass), one of the reasons why I love the android too – hehe.

I hope this is a good reason for you to get an android phone, specially cat lovers out there, hehe.

  Till then!

Tech Love: Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich

I’m not much of a ice cream lover, but there is one kind of ice cream that I would L-O-V-E! It’s the Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich

Everything about it is LOVE! I love that it’s customizable and looks much sleeker, better features like, face unlock and to top it off, it has a 12 MP camera, not bad for a camera phone. I can go on and on really, but just refer to the link here for more info.

I just hope it also has the auto focus and macro feature. Definitely, I have to have this phone, most probably by next year, since it’s better to wait.

I hope when it’s released I get the chance to test the phone or maybe own one? (ahem ahem) XD

         Till then!

A short gaming experience for the ACE and a App game review

I wasn’t able to make a detailed review of the gaming experience in the Samsung galaxy ace. So having found a game that I’m currently addicted to, here’s my take on the samsung galaxy ace gaming experience.

The ace has a 800MHz processor, compared to low end android phones (with only 600MHz), this is supposedly to be faster. However, I am surprised with the game  Aqua Pets (I’m currently playing) and even Angry Birds, I experience lagging and errors such as needing to force close the application. With the game angry birds, most of the time it just lags (slow). Having found the game Aqua pets is both a blessing and a curse, haha. Blessing because the game is addicting, and a curse because It eats up the battery even more, needing to charge it twice a day. Well, for now it’s okay since I’m just home, but that would be a bothersome if I’m out of the house.

AQUA PETS

Now, on to the game review. I was browsing through the Android market for app games, and I found Aqua pets. Aqua pets is a fishing and aquarium game for the Android.

At first, I was in it out of boredom but then I was getting OC in getting the magic scepter rod (which will be explained later on). There are 13 different rods to choose from, you get different kinds of fishes and other rare creatures, depending on the rod you use. Earning money, of course you have to fish by also using different baits. Better baits means better chances of getting rare and legendary creatures.

My aquarium, which you can also set as your live wallpaper

                                                             Auto rotate view

You get to feed your fishes by buying pellets in the store section for only 20 coins good for 1 whole day use. Aside from that, there’s nothing more you can do than just feed them and just continue fishing and catching more rare and legendary creatures. The more you fish, you get to level up too which is required for some rods.

What made it fun for me is my love for mermaids, LOL. I used all my pearls just to buy the magic scepter which can catch mermaids. Oh by the way, this app is free.

Unfortunately, I always experience lagging and force close. But what I do is to tap the wait option instead. So far, that’s the only concern I have with the game when it comes to technical issues. As for playability. It can get boring since the only interaction is feeding them. In my case, is addicting because I want to collect all the mermaids.

         Till then!
