2nd Time around with Karate Kid

Cozy afternoon to everyone and I love the weather, makes me want to sleep again. Anyway, BF and I had a date yesterday (date in the office and date after his shift), I had a great time even if I was keeping up with how sleepy I am already, but it was all good. Anyway, BF and I had breakfast this morning at Karate Kid along Makati Avenue in some building, forgot to ask the name, we were so hungry already that it slipped my mind even before we left, because we were so full after. hehe.

20100731_003

20100731_005

                                                           Tofu furai 5pcs P75

20100731_006  The sauce that came with the tofu, BF loved this too and I was surprised, well he eat tofu but he is very critical when it comes to food since his mom and little sister cooks sooo good.

20100731_010                                            Potato balls (forgot the price)

The potato balls were not that bad either, I liked it but BF LOVES it!

20100731_007

I liked their tempura, more over than Tokyo Tokyo, you can taste that there’s shrimp inside than breading. I don’t know what’s with Japanese fast food restaurants, they submerge the shrimp with too much batter then overprice it. tsk. What I liked about karate kid is that their tempura is not sold by per piece compared to Tokyo P39 per piece! WTH? here at karate you can go by 3pcs or 5pcs.

20100731_012                                                                Pork and Tofu

20100731_011                                                                   Beef ramen

This one was a disappointment, this was left untouched except for the egg and a few sips of the soup. It has a very mild taste, it should’ve been called shitake mushroom soup since the mushroom’s flavor was overpowering. Didn’t like this at all! And the rice was just regular rice, definitely not very japanese-y LOL! It sure was one heavy breakfast.

20100731_004                                   Ice tea, milder version of Tokyo’s red tea

Over all, we were satisfied with everything we ordered, I didn’t eat the rice that came with the meal since it was heavy already, our total bill cost us P566.

Our second Karate Kid experience, I’d give it a 3.7/5 spoons, but I’d definitely eat there again since their pasta looks interesting.

By the way, all photos were taken with the N900, I love it, BF says that I’m enjoying N900’s camera A LOT! It’s perfect too for casual photo for bloggers like me. I just wished I  had a camera of my own, one step at a time I guess.

Which japanese fast food restaurant do you like to dine at? or any discoveries? I’d like to hear them.

Till then!

Dinner and a Date

Hello there! What’s for dinner? BF and I went to Galleria to buy dinner, I had Tokyo Tokyo’s Terriyaki misono and he had Mongolian Grill bowl for P150, pictures below:

20100730_025

20100730_024

It’s definitely worth it, you can mix and match different flavors according to your taste but damn, just one order is good enough for 2 people all ready.

20100730_011

20100730_012  20100730_014 20100730_013 20100730_015  mine was

20100730_021    It looks small but the servings are actually big, not a rant or a rave, it was just okay.

And while we were waiting for our food we checked out the Nokia store and get a feel of the C3, and yes, I love it more! the keypad is way bigger than the N900. And this is me imagining it’s mine, pathetic I  know! :D

Day 4 with Nokia N900

Before anything else, I just want to clear a few things first, I’m not much of a techie person and BF is the one who is soo techie with these things, though I try to learn. Since I am more inclined to beauty blogging, maybe because the N900 is overwhelming for me that there are other features that I don’t really need, I think I’ve said that for the umpteenth time, sorry about that. Anyways, for today’s discovery, I’ve finally found my way through the camera settings. It was all about perfect timing and I got it, I don’t have to install other softwares for that thank god. Now, I am loving N900’s 5MP camera, it’s a good thing to have, 2 – in – 1 gadget that serves a a cool phone and a cool camera in one, I love it! For a smart phone, it does it job pretty well. Here’s a comparison of how I use to take a picture

20100730_002 20100730_008                                                         Huge difference right?

20100730_005

20100730_006

The one at the right is far more better, now I can’t wait to take more pictures with it!

Till then!

Watson’s Haul + Nokia C3 is L-O-V-E!

It’s here, it’s really here and I am so freaking sad right now! The same feeling as a kid who wants that toy in the window for Christmas, that kind of feeling! Paycheck is not enough and I need to save up for it, maybe by Christmas Santa Claus will gift me a C3 A PINK ONE!! I just love it, I love it to bits, regardless of how small the keypad is.

c3-2   The wonderful pink phone, I just had to take a picture, and didn’t care if people will find me weird or what. I’m just drooling! It’s shouting my name, haha. Sorry I just am excited with the phone, pretty sure you can sense that from there huh? :D  this was in the third floor at Robinson’s Galleria.

c3   This was in the ground floor, near food court at a Nokia center. Sigh is all I can say, but I will make sure I will have that phone no matter what! There you go, Nokia, particularly the one at Robinson’s Galleria is having a 1000 pesos cut off, so from 7,000 thousand it’s down to 6,000 something. That’s about it about the C3.

On other things, I bought a few stuff from watson’s my mini haul and playing around with N900 camera, now I know the trick.

20100730_008

I saw that there is a new Pond’s line the black one, of course I had to give it a try.  Closer look

20100730_006

Till my next post!

Proud 2 be Geek: Nokia - Every message brings us closer: "As I was scouring the net for video reviews of both Nokia C3 and C6, I stumbled upon this snazzy Nokia ad on youtube. They are ads for both ..."

Oh how I love the C3 even if it's around Php7,000+ I'd still very much buy this phone when I can, I know for a fact that this one suits my needs more over than the N900.

Day 3 with Nokia N900

Hello there! It’s been a very busy week lately, hope you’re  all doing okay. Well, this is my day with the N900, so here are a couple of things that I’ve noticed. I don’t really use facebook games with the N900 as for installing for a flash player seems difficult, and there’s no reason to since I can use the PC or laptop. So far, I think the N900 is pretty good for browsing the net like emails, facebook, twitter or my blogs. I tried playing another video yesterday and it seemed really slow, but I don’t expect much when it comes to that. Since my needs are mostly for browsing the net only. One of my concerns are, the battery life, it doesn’t seem to last 1 day specially if you use it a lot. Secondly, the texting part, eventually I got used to using the keypad itself, but it’s quite difficult to use when you are charging the phone or when you need to use the number keys. So this is what made my life more easier

Image1141                                                        I am so loving this feature

As for texting, it’s quite organized since it shows the conversation between you and the sender. But the settings are very limited in the message settings.

Third, for some reason the picture quality isn’t great at all, I expected a lot here since this is a 5MP Carl Zeiss with flash feature and somehow my nokia 5130 takes better pictures (just a teenie bit better), and I don’t know why? I still have to play around with the settings, but so far it’s a rant not a rave. :(

  Here’s a sample picture I took with the N900

20100729_003

                                                   My work station, quite messy

20100729_011                                         My girls, Cathie and Emili (no flash)

I have yet to try the camera with food pictures, maybe this weekend. I just love how the browsing feature is with the N900 which is a rave!

I don’t really need much with the phone, important factors for me are, good quality pictures, wifi – browsing social media sites, and skype, larger internal memory for my music and video recordings.

That’s all for now!

Day 2 experience with Nokia N900

Hello there! it’s day 2 of my experience with the Nokia N900, below are the essential things that I bring with my everyday at work and at home since I kept most of the other accessories in BF’s drawer at the office

20100727_012                                        Charger, head phones and USB cable

Of course music is what keeps me from being bored on my travel to work or during work (Specially after lunch) and headphones are THE most important for me. However, I did not like the headphones that came with the box, closer look

20100728_011    I find it uncomfortable in my ears and kept on falling off, and the wire seemed rather thinner than what I usually have. So I’m using my old headphones from my Nokia Xpress Music 5130.

Anyway, here’s how my desktop looks (forgive the very poor image quality, I need a good digital camera, and it’s the Nikon that I want. Not sure if I can buy one asap though)

Blog1                                                     L-O-V-E anything Hello Kitty

Blog2        Browsing through facebook, you can chat with your friends as well. I’ve tried Twitter, blogger, youtube and skype which all works perfectly just like a pc but smaller of course. As for facebook games, I’m still figuring out if I can install a flash player for it.  I tried playing Baking life but it says I have to install a flash player. You see I’m squeezing in time this week, while doing this N900 diary of mine, but I promise to have more photos and other features this weekend.

Another thing I  noticed but I’m still observing is the battery life, It seems to last for 1 day only, maybe because I’ve been using it too much but still on further observation.

That’s all for now, I promise to have more

Day 1 with Nokia N900

Hello there readers! It has been a wonderful Monday for me yesterday. First up, I received my prize from annalyn (ajay’s writing) the wonderful, talked about Dr. Jart+ BB Cream, which I’ll be making a review of this coming weekend. As I have another blog post which I will be doing first. Remember my post about Updates + something else? Okay, here is the mystery something else :)

Image1125   The package, thank you Paul from WOM/World Nokia! The first package I got, I was able to receive it myself since I was in my work station. It was almost nearing 12PM and I was getting really hungry already so I decided to buy some food at Kenny Rogers. When I got back the HR skyped me and said that I have a package from DHL! My most awaited package! Don’t get me wrong of course Make-up will always make me happy and giddy and everything else, but for this one, the reason why it makes it special is because this is my VERY FIRST gadget review, which was offered by Paul of WOM/World. Thank you for trusting me with this hot item. It’s practically quite hard because I have to take extra extra care of the unit since it’s not mine. Anyways, I’m babbling too much, haha!

 Image1126                                                             Back of the package

Image1129                                   Package tightly wrapped with bubble wrap

I couldn’t help it, I just had to pop one piece of bubble, lol. Pet peeve >.<

Image1130

Image1131

Image1132

                                                         The trial phone N900

Image1133

The box that came with it, consists of:

  • N900 unit
  • Charger
  • USB cable
  • Battery
  • Manual
  • Headset
  • TV/Video cable
  • and another cable (square type)

Image1134   The actual unit (you can see the reflection of me taking a picture with my Nokia Xpress music phone)

Image1127      And another thing that came with the package is the return documentation, which I will be reading 2 days before my review ends. I kept everything in BF’s drawer at the office since he doesn’t share it with anyone.

This review won’t be like just a review perse but more of my daily experiences with the Nokia N900.

Just a recap, the OS (Operating system/software) is a Maemo software developed by Nokia for smartphones. The Nokia N900 is a smart phone competing with the Iphone and Android. What’s the difference? Here in the Philippines, it’s waaay cheaper than the Iphone. Well, okay not super cheap but a better alternative for the Iphone when it comes to pricing. I’ve asked around Nokia stores and the unit costs around Php 25,000+ up, depending on where you buy it.

Some technical stuff:

  • FR, EFR, WCDMA, and GSM AMR

Those are just some basic features of the phone, for a complete list of specs please click here

I thought the box that will come with it will have a complete run down of the specs however it didn’t have any, probably because it’s a trial phone only. The list of specs I got are from the Nokia site.

The package arrived around lunch time and I was really trying hard to keep my posture, seeming like I wasn’t excited at all. My officemates would find that weird, hehe. It was just in my desk the whole time, just beyond my reach of opening it. Now, before anything else, my love for the C3 will always be there, and I am still considering of buying it. Girls just got to have pink phones (well I do!) It just seems like I am drooling over the N900 too much, maybe because it has everything I need when it comes to browsing the net (noooooo).

After work, told my team that I’m logging out, that I’m done with all my reports, and just a touch away I opened the wonderful yellow thing. It was hard because my friends were like ooh’s and aahh’s when they saw the actual unit, all thinking that I bought the phone, haha. I explained that it’s not mine and I was asked to review a Nokia phone, yadda yadda yadda! lol. I wasn’t able to browse much because we’re waiting for our monthly meeting to start. When I got home, went in my room asap and played with it. Good thing my brother was using the net so I didn’t have to set up the wifi. First thing I did was to try all my social networking sites like, facebook, blogger and twitter, and you can browse through it just like you would in your PC or laptop. The qwerty keypad is a little bit small so I may have to cut my nails (to avoid scratches), it’s quite hard typing or texting but it’s all about adjustment I suppose. Touchpad, the response is rather quite slow, so if you’re impatient, then maybe that would be an issue for you.

While I was on the meeting BF set up the wifi settings for me, thanks babe! it’s actually easy to set up a wifi connection which you can find in the internet connection settings, then make sure that connect automatically option is always ask. If you’re the type of person whose into slim phones then this would be another issue for the N900. It’s bulky and taking pictures are difficult. Slim phones are nice, they look sexy and I wouldn’t mind having a slim phone either but for this one particularly, it’s bearable. Another feature that I loved about this is the Skype feature, I was able to test it out and chatted with BF and friends. So far, it’s like your own PC on the GO, and I love it! It’s not bad really, but of course, I can’t tell for now since I haven’t played much with it yet.

So this ends for my day 1 experience with the Nokia N900, please look forward for  more posts. And if you have questions about it, don’t hesitate to ask okies?

Updates + something else

Hello there! It’s been quite a while since my last post, sorry about that. I’ve been refraining myself in buying make-up, but I said to myself, I think now I deserve to buy a few things that I most love and reward myself. Well, it won’t be a major haul really and since I need a new foundation powder since my True Luminous (from Avon) is almost nearing empty. For coverage, the true luminous does not work for me, but that is because I have oily skin, so I need a heavier coverage. Anyway, I’ll be buying the in2it oil control powder and maybe something else.
Anyway, since I haven’t bought it yet, I won’t be talking about that. As I am typing right now, I’m having so much butterflies in my tummy, I can’t contain my excitement but I don’t want to spoil the mystery post for next week. So here’s a hint ;)

It’s a package, what is it? I can’t say for now, you’ll find out eventually ;)

Till then!

Pizza Hut’s combo pizza

Thin crust, bready crust I love them all, and when I’m craving for bready pizza, BF and I always go to Pizza Hut. This restaurant hasn’t failed us yet when it comes to customer service, so kudos to them! Branches we’re we’ve eaten are, Buendia, MOA (Mall of Asia), SM Bicutan and Parksquare, Glorietta.

The other day, my sister had a visitor and we didn’t have food so I decided to treat them for pizza, of course they we’re happy about it specially the little nephew of mine. I really love their Hawaiian flavored pizza, originally that was my first order and a single order of Pasta Bolognese, the person on the phone was so patient with me and was very nice. I asked what’s their promo for this month and I wasn’t excited about it, then he suggested another promo (I’m not sure if it’s a limited edition promo, but I like it!) you can order 2 family sized pizza flavors available are: Hawaiian, supreme, bacon and I forgot the others. 2 family sized pizza for P399 ONLY! Not bad eh? Well of course for the toppings of supreme, it wasn’t much, but the basics are there like, red and green bell peppers and meat. Here are pictures

Image1105                                                                 Pizza Supreme

Image1106                                                Hawaiian – el favorito! ^___^

For the pasta, I had the Bolognese with meatballs for P129

Image1107

Okay, for some reason, I didn’t like this at all! even the meatballs tasted weird, I just gave it to our dog. The sauce tasted like chili beef, Ravioli’s Bolognese taste waaaayy better. The weird thing is, when BF and I dine in, their Bolognese tastes better, hmm? I’m sorry, but I really didn’t like my bolognese that time at least it wasn’t put to waste since Caramel (dog) ate it right? About the meatballs, it just taste weird, I can’t even explain what the taste is, maybe some sort of extender or something? I’m not sure. But, at least the pizza’s we’re saving grace! ^_^ I can vouch for their chicken penne pasta – love it!

Delivery was fast as usual and the person who accommodated my call was very pleasant. I believe the most important factor in your business is YOUR PEOPLE! they’re your biggest asset. So managers or owners should train their people well to have that quality service even if it is not a high class restaurant.

Bicol Express – express it is!

For the past few weeks I’ve been  buying my food (for breakfast) at 711 convenience store. I find that they have better choices there since it’s a bigger store compared to Ministop down our office. Choices are, they have the usual Filipino breakfast food such as Tocilog ( tocino – sweet pork, garlic rice and scrambled egg), Tapsilog ( beef strips), Hotdog, Korean beef stew, just to name a few. Prices are fairly reasonable and the meal is very filling. As for the taste, It’s not that bad, not great either but okay. For the Korean beef stew, it does taste like korean but there are more fat parts than meat parts, I think price for it was P45.00. For today, I tried their rice toppings which is the Bicol express, it cost me P55, at first I thought it’s a bit pricey or maybe I’m a cheapskate at times, haha. And I thought that servings were small, just by looking at how the guy prepared it. Bicol express is a Bicolano dish, it has pork, lots of chili’s simmered to coconut milk and a little bit of bagoong – salted fish paste.  I actually didn’t plan in making a review about it, but when I enjoy eating something I blog about it. Here’s what it looks like

 Image1120

Sorry no actual food picture  :(

It may look small, but for me, I think the serving is just enough to fill the tummy. Since I love anything spicy, I was surprised that this order was indeed spicy, (I hate it when they say spicy, but when you eat it, it’s not even spicy at all, so 2 thumbs up for this) and they didn’t skimp on the pork meat either. For a convenience store food, this is worth trying out. There are many choices to choose from, maybe next time I’ll try to post their menu. Prices range from 30 pesos to 55 pesos. Their liempo looks good too, which my friend ordered.

So that’s it for today, till my next post

Smoked salmon sandwich

I’ve been intrigued with Kenny Roger’s sandwiches particularly the smoked salmon with cream cheese, so last week I tried it out. As a consumer, somehow (or maybe it’s just me), I expected for the sandwich to look maybe just a little bit the same as with the flyers they hand out. I thought it was big, but it wasn’t. The Smoked salmon with cream cheese sandwich ala cart costs P159.

Image1094

Image1095

The actual sandwich is thin, now for the taste it IS good, but for the price I think it’s a little bit pricey. But I wasn’t disappointed with how it tasted.

My verdict: 3.5/5 spoons

I might try out their other sandwiches, but for this one since I did like how it tasted, you might want to try it out too!
