Changing times–Nitz Restaurant

College days, they were the most challenging years of my life, but at the same time the most memorable too. I was in 2nd year college when I met M, he was graduating at that time.

I was touched when M wanted to accompany me to school today (despite that he has work today) to have my diploma and tor processed. Anyway, we used to eat at this place named Pink Star, so when we decided to have lunch without a doubt, we wanted to eat there again and reminisce the good old times.

The place is newly renovated and is even wifi friendly too. They also have a new set of menu to choose from aside from their home cooked meals. I ordered their fish parmigiana and M had the fish fillet, both for P80 only. I think the people who can relate to this are the alumni’s of PWU-Taft.

I was surprised that for P80, the fish was quite big. There’s no wow factor, but it was really flavorful. The fish was served hot too. The cheese tasted familiar, the tomato sauce was just right with a tang (not on the sweet side) which is good. M liked my order so much too that he wants to go back next time.

This was M’s order, fish fillet for P80, it comes with a honey mustard sauce which I liked a lot! The fish tasted the same, but with the sauce makes it different. And they were not skimping on this either, it had around 8 pieces of fish which was quite large, not bad.

This was in front of us, M asked if I wanted dessert, which honestly, was totally up to him since he hates strawberry, so I had to bare eating chocolate ice cream. We shared a chocolate parfait, no wow factor really, since it had vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup topped with whipped cream and cherry. The sauce tasted good. I just wished they put more sauce on it.

More or less, the food was worth it, we were satisfied with our orders. I couldn’t take more pictures as much as I wanted to, to show my high school friends how much it changed now. They “don’t allow” picture taking as what the cashier said. O__o

Here was our first photo taken at pink star…

Weekend date: Movie, friends and food

Last weekend the metro experienced a gloomy weather, but it did not stop us from watching Captain America and meeting our friends. Around 10am it was raining hard, we were hungry so we decided to have brunch at Mcdonald’s near our place. We stayed until the rain subsided.

I had 1 sausage mcmuffin and 2 hashbrowns, nothing beats mcdonald’s sausage mcmuffin and it’s the only breakfast item I eat there.

Coffee because I was feeling groggy with a slight headache – bad idea

As soon as the rain stopped, we went to Glorietta to spend some us time, just the two of us. And by us time, means, we went to Toy kingdom and Parksquare to check out gadgets and toys, hehe! Parksquare is my haven, LOL! And of course, I never fail to pass by the hello kitty stuff toys… No, I didn’t buy it, I’m just waiting for M to surprise me one day with this, hehe. *cough cough* XD

On our way to Glorietta 4, we passed by lush and saw this pretty pink banner, with my first name on it. Okay, now you know my first name  ^__^

                                     Imogen is my first name

Even if the seats for the movie was reserved seating, we still didn’t want to be late, so we stayed at Starbucks, Glorietta 4 and had dessert. Well, I had dessert while M had his usual fix of choco frap.

As soon as our friends arrived, we decided to fall in line already, and boy the line was a long one. From cinema 6, all the way to Dairy queen.

After the movie, we had dinner at Pizza hut, I tried something new. Shrimp and garlic pasta, it was good. Picture is blurry though, I didn’t notice that there was a small handprint in the lens.

We ordered pasta and 2 family sized pizza’s, cheese pizza and bacon cheeseburger. Since it’s a group dinner, I didn’t want to take time taking pictures, so I just took a photo of mine. As usual, M is very predictable, he ordered his usual Bolognese. Thanks babe for the treat, really appreciate it~

Next time we visit Pizza hut, I’m going back for the Shrimp and garlic.

Have you watched Captain America yet? The after credit clip was THE BOMB! It’s THE movie I want to watch! Thor made the ladies scream like crazy!

       Till then!

Food talk: Banoffee Pie at Starbucks

If you’ve been a long time reader of my blog, you know by now that I have a sweet tooth. For my weekend food trip with M, we stayed at Starbuck’s, Glorietta while waiting for our friends. The branch at Glorietta had a couple of cakes available and one of which is their Banoffee pie. MY FAVE! Bananas, toffee, chocolate and cream are a match made in heaven.

Banoffee pie:

Is an English pastry based dessert, made from bananas, toffee from boiled condensed milk, cream, either on a pastry base or one made from crumbled biscuits and butter.

Starbuck’s banoffee pie had crumbled biscuits and butter as crust, then layered with bananas with just the right sweetness and texture. And then drizzled with toffee (which tasted like caramel), and chocolate, topped with cream. Instead of serving a slice, they have individual servings for each.

DSCN4087

I haven’t tasted a lot of Banoffee pie’s to compare with, they say Banapple has the best cakes and pie’s. I know Starbuck’s doesn’t make their own cakes or pie’s, they get theirs from a supplier (correct me if I’m wrong), but whoever made this, I enjoyed every piece of it. For the price, well, most cakes from Starbuck’s costs more than P120+, this was the “cheapest”.

PROS:

  • Crust was just right, tasted like regular ground biscuits
  • Buttery and nutty crumbled crust
  • Large chunks of bananas
  • Generous amount of caramel, whipped cream and chocolate syrup

CONS:

  • Can be too sweet for others

This review may not be as comprehensive as I want it to be, since I haven’t really tried other banoffee pie’s to compare with, but for the record, if you’re just into something sweet and likes to keep it simple, this won’t disappoint.
